Someone once referred to me in college as “that girl with the big earrings.” Hoop, chandelier, drop—you name it--I love ‘em big, big, big. Small earrings—what’s the point? It’s like wearing clear mascara. Do small earrings make faces look fatter? Maybe. Have you ever seen someone with a big face and really small eyes? That’s how I feel when I put on small earrings. I know someone else who loves big earrings. He’s two years old and he lives in my house and in his hands, my earrings become the shortest distance between me and a plastic surgeon specializing in earlobe repair.

So, small earrings and I are going to have to make our peace. Lucky me, there are some awesome ones out there that I can wear and still feel big, big, big on the inside.

1. Le Cirque aux Papillon Earrings from Bonbon Oiseau, $72.00
I love the bright red and aqua color combination—they really pop. They’re made of antique pulled glass rings and hulls of rice!
2. Small Cloud Earrings from Alice Roche, $90
Handmade by a San Francisco-based architect turned jewelry designer, this sterling silver pair is a “fun geometric take on mother nature.” Their assertive shape is completely unique and anything but boring.
3. Buttercup Posts from Anthropologie, $18.00
You’ve probably seen these resin rose shapes in lots of stores, but every time I see them, I can’t resisit! They’re lightweight, come in lots of colors and are just really cute. And affordable.
4. Gold Glam Bud Stud Earrings from cheapdatejewelry on Etsy, $26.00
As the description on Etsy says, these evoke a vintage-y clip on vibe with the convenience of a stud. I love their texture, which makes up for their diminutive .5” size.
5. Blossom Earrings by Odette, $85.00
These super feminine sterling silver earrings are inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms. Their texture, perforation and overall shape make you want to take a second look. Also available in yellow and rose gold.
