Sep3Vacation?
Tonya

Ok, so we are all going to try and go on “vacation” but since the kids are with us it will basically just be fun for them and, possibly, the dads…unless we’re yelling at them, which is totally possible because when we think vacation we think poolside with a pina colada under an umbrella with really awful book (except me and my fair skin: I’d have a huge hat on and sweats and sun screen). Instead though we’ll still be doing all our usual stuff just the scenery has changed. Wish us luck! We wish you luck too!

Thumbs up this vacation: child learning how to nap on beach. Thumbs down: bs hurricane hyperbole forcing us to shut down our vacation early. Also, children not getting vacation means sleeping in late memo.

  2. A wise cousin of mine once said “there’s a vacation, and then there’s a family trip. These are not the same thing. The former is taken alone, with friends, with your partner; the latter is taken with your children.”

Don’t fool yourself: you’re not on vacation, despite pina coladas and floppy hats. You’re on a family trip. Once you lower the bar of expectation (lowered right down TO the bar, thanks), then you’re bound to have a GREAT time!

  3. As always Deborah, that is an excellent point. Whenever we go away (yeah, on a “family trip”) with June we’re like “why the hell didn’t we take more vacations pre-baby? Surely something like lack of money shouldn’t have stopped us from taking elaborate 4-star tours of Italy?????
